我们老师讲“believe ,like ,hear ,prefer ,smell ,understand ,hate ,know ,love ,see ,taste ,want”这些词通常没有现在进行时,是什么原因呢?是因为与思想活动或感官有关的动词都没有现在分词吗?
通常没有现在进行时,
因为这些感受都是瞬时的,不持续,所以也就不可能‘在进行’；
汉语里也没有类似 ‘他正在确信, 他正在听到,.’等的用法.
但并不是因为与思想活动或感官有关的动词都没有现在分词. 它们有现在分词,但
用的场合不是在进行时语句.见下面例子.
We were deceived into believing that he could help us.
我们受骗了,还以为他能帮助我们.
I've always had a liking for coffee.
我一直很喜欢咖啡.
His hearing was impaired after the explosion.
爆炸后他的听力受到了损害.
tasting of, or smelling of garlic.
尝起来或闻起来有大蒜味的The young men seem to be preferring some request which the elder ones are indisposed to grant.
年轻人似乎想提出某种年纪大的人不愿答应的要求.
Love is the byname of understanding and care.

He confessed hating his present job.
