In translation,we need to fullfil three basic standards,"loyalty","clarity" and "elegance"."Loyalty" requires us to be loyal to the content and meaning of each sentence of the author's original work by translating literally every word and every sentence in modern Chinese without arbitrarily adding or omitting the content."Clarity" demands our interpretation to be clear,fluent and effective in reflecting the author's attitude."Elegance" needs us to use modern Chinese in a concise,elegant and literarily graceful way to express the content,form and style of the original text.
